The emphasis of our methods at the Montessori Academy of North Hoffman (MANH) is to create academically advanced children who can think creatively starting at preschool and continuing from K-12.
We believe in and support the responsibility of parents as the prime educators in their child’s life. First and foremost, we have confidence in the uniqueness of each child. Additionally, we believe that each child is born with certain unique potentials. We view education as an aid to life. Its purpose includes the acquisition of basic skills and knowledge. We believe in accomplishing our goals through the cooperative efforts of the child, parents, and educators.
The method used at our school follows the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. This method is open-ended and designed to fulfill each child’s growth needs. We believe that our environment should be a place of self-discovery, where everyone learns how to learn, and everyone is provided with the means and the freedom to become lifelong learners and develop to their full potential. The theories of Jean Piaget, Jerome Bruner, Erik Erikson, and other developmental psychologists support this method of education.
We have no doubt that learning must focus on the individual child. We think learning must be integrated, comprehensive, and based on the reality of the child’s world. With the Montessori Academy of North Hoffman programs we are teaching the individual and giving them the tools to grow into the world and add to the community and world at large.
