STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Areli Bahena

Areli Bahena
Co-Directress, Toddlers

What led you to become an educator?

I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age, but it wasn’t until I visited my first Montessori classroom that I truly understood what kind of teacher I wanted to be. I was amazed by how confident and capable even the youngest children were when given the right environment. That experience inspired me to pursue Montessori training and focus on toddlers, because I love guiding them as they build independence, language, and social skills. I became a teacher because I believe in treating children with respect and giving them the freedom to learn naturally.

What do you love about working at MANH?

One of the things I love about MANH is the family atmosphere. Everyone is always there to support one another. I especially enjoy working with Ms. Safari because, after so many years in her role, she still cares for and loves the children so deeply, and she always has a smile for everyone. She believed in me and encouraged me to pursue my Montessori training, and even on days that feel more challenging, she smiles at me and says, “You can do it!”

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at school?

In my free time, I enjoy working out with my husband or going for walks on summer days. I also love spending time with my family, cooking with my mom, and shopping with my sisters. One of my favorite things to do is travel with my husband and experience different cultures, traditions, and ways of life.
