STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Shelbi Mohebbi

Shelbi Mohebbi
Lower Elementary Lead Teacher
& Elementary Coordinator

What led you to become an educator?

It’s funny because I’ve always said I wanted to be a teacher since I was little, though the path that led me to teaching was anything but straightforward. My journey has been full of beautiful wrong turns, but teaching and helping others was always at the heart of it all. I’ve always believed that learning should feel joyful and spark curiosity. Teaching allows me to give children opportunities to discover their passions and build confidence, one magical “aha” moment at a time. It is organized chaos with a flair for nature - the perfect combination!

What do you love about working at MANH so far?

I love working at MANH because here, diversity, equity, and inclusion aren’t optional—they’re how we roll. Strength and sensitivity are both celebrated as superpowers and are encouraged to exist side by side. Our classrooms truly belong to the students, where everyone can feel seen, respected, and heard. With nature woven into the curriculum, it gives me the perfect excuse to fill the classroom with plants, animals, and everything wild. For the kids, of course...

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at school?

You can usually find me outside barefoot, trying to identify birds by their calls, digging in the garden, or buried in the couch watching The Office on repeat with a “snackle box” tucked in beside me. I’m a proud bird nerd and an unapologetic cat lady, though I don’t discriminate. If an animal crosses my path, its fate. I love brewing kombucha, endlessly failing (but never quitting) at sourdough, and tending to my ever-growing jungle of indoor plants.I love a good board game and will happily show up anywhere that considers pajamas acceptable attire.
