Creating Together: Sculpting, Stitching, and Weaving

Art

Our art classes have been filled with calm focus and joyful concentration as students across all age levels explored projects that encouraged patience, creativity, and hands-on learning. Each experience supported confidence and personal expression through the process of making.

Our Toddlers enjoyed a playful introduction to building and design while creating pumpkin art. Using paper strips, they learned how to fold and attach simple feet that allowed their pumpkins to stand upright. The process invited experimentation and small adjustments, and the pride was clear when each pumpkin finally stood on its own. These bright creations became sculptural pumpkin art that celebrated the season and the joy of discovery.

Kindergartners stepped into sewing using cardboard templates and yarn, carefully threading stitches through punched holes. As they worked, students practiced coordination and focus, watching their designs slowly come together. Once complete, they added foam cutouts to frame their pieces. The finished work was full of texture and personality, and students proudly shared their creations, eager to point out favorite stitches.

Elementary students engaged in a multi-step fiber art project that invited focus and intention. They began by preparing circular boards with printmaking and brayers to create layered backgrounds, then threaded the warp in a spoke-like pattern and moved into the steady rhythm of weaving the weft. Beads and hand-sewn elements were added to complete each piece, allowing students to express their individual voice within a shared structure and create artwork that felt cohesive and personal.

With the holidays approaching, students across all levels created handmade ornaments. Each ornament reflected the same care and creativity seen throughout their art experiences, offering a meaningful way to share their work and celebrate this special time of year.
