Growing Together: MANH Parent Education

Why We Do Parent Education

We believe education works best as a true partnership between families and educators. To nurture each child’s independence, curiosity, and love of learning, it’s essential that parents understand the principles guiding our work. That’s why we offer our Parent Education Series—a multi-session journey designed to deepen families’ connection to Montessori philosophy, practice, and community.

The Parent Education Series is about more than information. It is an opportunity for parents to build relationships, share experiences, and grow in partnership with the educators who guide their children. Together, we create a consistent and nurturing environment at school and at home where children thrive. Whether you are new to Montessori or a returning parent, these sessions offer meaningful insights, encouragement, and practical ways to stay connected to your child’s learning.

SEPTEMBER  / Session 1
Montessori Philosophy & Our Accreditation Process

We begin with the heart of Montessori education. Parents explore the guiding principles of respect for the child, independence, intrinsic motivation, and the prepared environment. This session also introduces our school’s accreditation process, highlighting the rigorous standards we uphold to ensure every classroom reflects authentic Montessori practice. Families leave with a deeper appreciation for the quality and integrity of their child’s educational experience.

OCTOBER / Session 2
Exploring the Montessori Curriculum

In our second session, parents step into the child’s world. We explore the classroom curriculum, from practical life and sensorial activities to language, math, and cultural studies. Parents gain insight into how carefully designed materials lead from concrete exploration to abstract understanding, and how freedom of choice cultivates responsibility and a lifelong love of learning.

For multi-year programs, it is highly recommended that parents attend each year. Each session highlights a different stage in the scope and sequence of the curriculum, offering families a clear picture of where their child is developing and where they are heading next. This perspective shows how the Montessori approach builds year after year.

NOVEMBER / Session 3
Extending Montessori into the Home

The third session bridges school and home. Parents receive practical strategies for reinforcing Montessori values in everyday life, such as:

•  Setting up child-friendly spaces at home.

•  Encouraging independence and responsibility through routines.

•  Using supportive language that fosters problem-solving and resilience.

This session empowers families to bring the Montessori spirit into their daily rhythm, creating consistency between home and school.

DECEMBER: The Montessori Journey:
An Essential Experience for Parents

The highlight of the Parent Education Series is The Montessori Journey, an immersive event where parents step into their child’s shoes. Families move through the full continuum of Montessori education—from infancy to toddler, to primary, to elementary, and all the way through middle and high school—engaging directly with the hands-on materials and lessons at each stage.

This powerful experience allows parents to feel the difference Montessori makes. They discover the careful sequence of learning, the beauty of the materials, and the empowering role of independence. Many parents describe this event as transformative, giving them a whole new perspective on their child’s day-to-day experiences and the long-term value of Montessori education.
