What led you to become an educator?
My journey into education began somewhat unexpectedly in 2005, when I joined MANH as an Upper Elementary assistant, thinking it would be a short chapter. What I didn’t anticipate was how deeply I would connect with the work—the energy of the classroom, the curiosity of the students, and the meaningful relationships that form each day. That experience sparked something in me, leading me to pursue my training and fully embrace the Montessori path. Twenty-one years later, I’m still inspired by the same sense of purpose that first drew me in, and I can’t imagine having chosen a different path.
What do you love about working at MANH?
What I love most are the people—both my colleagues and my students. Having students stay with me for six years is incredibly special; I get to witness their growth not just academically, but as independent, thoughtful young adults. Rooted in Montessori philosophy, I value creating an environment where students are trusted, given responsibility, and encouraged to follow their curiosity and develop a true love of learning. I’ve also been given the freedom to shape my curriculum, which allows me to be creative and respond to the interests and needs of my students in meaningful ways. It means so much when they stay in touch even after they leave. Being part of such a supportive team makes coming to work a joy—it has always felt more like a way of life than a job.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at school?
When I’m not at school, I enjoy slowing down and immersing myself in things that bring me joy—reading a good book, playing board games, tending to my garden, trying new recipes, and exploring new places through travel. Most of all, I treasure the time I spend with my friends, family, and especially my grandchildren—they make every moment more meaningful.
