What led you to become an educator?
I have worked with kids for as long as I can remember, beginning with babysitting at a young age and later serving as an aide for children with disabilities through NWSRA while in high school. That experience sparked my passion for inclusion and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, which I continued for nearly 15 years while also volunteering with Special Olympics. Through this work, I was introduced to Montessori education and its emphasis on hands-on learning, which I found especially impactful for children with diverse needs. I went on to earn a degree in psychology, worked as a case manager for adults with disabilities, and ultimately pursued my Montessori certification for ages 0-3. I have been teaching in a Montessori classroom since 2013.
What do you love about working at MANH?
I love being part of the early stages of a child’s development and helping them navigate some of their first challenges. Watching a child learn a new skill and accomplish something independently for the first time is incredibly rewarding. The joy, curiosity, and growth I see in the classroom each day make this work truly meaningful. The children bring so much positivity and energy, and it is a privilege to be part of their journey.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at school?
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, especially cheering on our nine year old, Ellie, at her soccer games. We are a big board game family and love trying new games together… our living room is filled with game shelves instead of bookcases. I also have a passion for travel and service work through the Toa Tumaini Foundation, a nonprofit I help lead that supports a school in Tanzania. Visiting and working with the students there is one of the most meaningful and fulfilling experiences in my life.
